Dear Ascent Classical Academy Families,

We hope your summer is off to a great start! To help your student and family transition to Ascent Classical Academy, we’ve put together some resources. Attached to this email are two checklists you can use to prepare your student for the coming year, as well as information about summer reading, summer office hours, and gatherings specific to your campus.

Summer Reading

Summer is just getting started and this is a great time to encourage your students to keep reading during the break!  While summer reading is not required for students enrolling in Ascent Classical Academy, it is encouraged.

The benefits of summer reading are well documented, including the maintenance of literacy skills and preventing "summer slide" or learning loss. Students who engage in summer reading make gains in reading proficiency, increase their vocabulary, and learn to make reading for pleasure a life-long habit.

The Ascent Classical Academies suggested reading list for the 2024-2025 school year can be found on our website.

 We encourage students and their families to visit their local library if you do not have access to the suggested books for summer reading.

Summer Checklist

The summer checklist is designed to spread out tasks and help you maximize your break without missing important dates or rushing to get everything done in August.

Uniform Checklist

The uniform checklist is an easy guide to make sure you have everything needed before the fall. Please note: The Ascent Classical plaid is now in stock and available when ordering your student’s required uniform items. 

Stay Connected Over the Summer

Beginning June 17, our main phone line will be monitored. You may call us at (803) 400-6730 or send inquiries by email to irmo.office@ascentclassical.org and we will direct your question to the appropriate staff member. To connect with our community, follow our Facebook and Instagram pages and join the parent community or grade-level groups. 

Host a Grade-Level Gathering

We are looking for families interested in hosting grade-level gatherings throughout the month of July. If you are interested in hosting, please complete this sign up form or email irmo.office@ascentclassical.org with details.

Request for Volunteers

We need your help! As we move forward with preparing for the 2024-2025 school year, we need volunteers to move several heavy furniture pieces from our temporary office space at 455 St. Andrews Rd. to the school's Main Office at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 10, or Tuesday, June 11. Please note there are stairs at the temporary office site we're vacating. If you're able to help, email us at irmo.office@ascentclassical.org.
