Summer Newsletter

Dear Centurions,

 

We hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer! We continue working diligently to prepare for the upcoming school year and the arrival of our students. Current endeavors include:

• receiving a robust curriculum for our students, including works of literature, math manipulatives, and textbooks;
• collaborating with parents to plan summer gatherings for students in each grade level (schedule to be sent out next week);
• working with contractors to implement the upgrades at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, our temporary facility for 2024-2025, required by the state for all public schools; and
• training our fantastic teachers and staff on the classical education program at Ascent.

We've completed registration for all families who accepted seats. At this time, we do have limited spots available for students in most grade levels. We would love your help filling these for our inaugural year! There will only be one first year of Ascent Classical Academy, so now is your chance to bring friends and neighbors to share in the excitement and quality choice of classical education.

School Supplies

We are excited to announce school supplies for the 2024-2025 school year will be provided by Ascent Classical! This includes daily supplies for all K-8 students, classroom supplies, and textbooks or workbooks. Your student(s) will need personal items including a backpack, lunch box, and water bottle, in addition to the required uniform items. Should teachers request additional items for their students or classroom, families will be given at least one week’s notice.

Transportation and Carpooling

Ascent Classical Academy is not able to offer transportation to students this year. We encourage parents to connect with other families and develop carpool plans. You may also complete this form to indicate your interest in carpooling with other ACA families and to give us permission to share your contact information with other parents.

 

We also recommend watching for Centurions yard signs in your neighborhood, connecting with parents at upcoming Parent Information Meetings and grade-level gatherings, or joining the Ascent Classical grade-specific groups on Facebook (also found under the About section of our profile) to find parents in your area.

Financial Assistance

If you indicated during registration that you believe your family qualifies for financial assistance, based on the national school lunch program, you will receive an email next with instructions on how to apply. Families who qualify for partial or full aid will receive assistance with instructional fees and the cost of meals and uniforms. 

Show your Centurion Pride! 

We greatly appreciate the support of our families. Without you, we would not be able to bring the opportunity of classical education to our wonderful community. Please show your Centurion pride by displaying a school yard sign at your home or office! There are a limited number remaining. Email us at irmo.office@ascentclassical.org to reserve one. 

Grade-Level Gatherings Volunteers Needed

Thank you for everyone who volunteered to host a grade-level gathering. We are still seeking someone to assist with a kindergarten event. If you are interested in hosting, please complete this sign up form and email irmo.office@ascentclassical.org with details. A full list of events will be shared next week!

Updated  Uniform Checklists

The language in our uniform checklists did not perfectly match that of the uniform guidelines. We apologize for any confusion caused. Please review the updated Uniform Checklist here.
